QED’17 is traditionally held under the Patronage of the National Commission for UNESCO - Bulgaria. The first issue of the QED event was held in 2011 under the theme “Re-designing Institutional Policies and Practices to Enhance the Quality of Education through Innovative Use of Digital Technologies” and with the financial support of the SISTER and the Fibonacci FP7 projects. Since then the event is held regularly after each EDUsummIT, presenting the outcomes of the global forum to enhance positive impact on the education systems at local, regional and international levels.

QED is traditionally hosted by the University of Library Studies and Information Technologies (ULSIT) which is a unique (in a Bulgarian context) research and educational interdisciplinary center integrating studies in the library science, digital technologies, cultural and historical heritage. The organiser is the UNESCO Interfaculty Chair ICT in Library Studies, Education and Cultural Heritage at SULSIT.

QED’17 will be held on September 20-21, 2017 in Sofia, Bulgaria with parallel sessions at the EC Representation in Bulgaria (Hall “Home of Europe”), Sofia City Library and Sofia Municipality (1 Paris Str.).

The topic of QED’17 is Children in the Digital Era, which is an upgrade of the “Children in the Information Age” initiative started in Bulgaria 32 years ago.

This year the participants in EDUsummIT’17 will join the conference QED’17, where a special session will be dedicated to sharing the outcomes from the work of the global forum thematic groups. The leaders of the thematic groups are distinguished policy-makers, educators, researchers and representatives of the corporate and IT sector from across the world.
