About EDUsummIT
EDUsummIT is a global knowledge creating community of researchers, policy-makers and educators committed to supporting the effective integration of Information Technology (IT) in education by promoting active dissemination and use of research.
Background
EDUsummIT emerged from the International Handbook on Information Technology in Primary and Secondary Education (Voogt & Knezek, 2008). The handbook editors realized that much of the scholarly work done during forty years of research in the field of technology in education had not found its way into policy and practice. This was the initial reason for bringing researchers, policy makers and practitioners together in an international summit on technology implementation in education, which was held in 2009 in The Hague. Next EDUsummITs were held in Paris (2011), Washington (2013) and Bangkok (2015).
The EDUsummIT is convened in association with several prominent international and national organizations actively promoting the use of IT in education, including: the Society for Information Technology and Teacher Education (SITE), the International Society for Technology in Education (ISTE), Kennisnet (The Netherlands), and the International Federation for Information Processing (IFIP) W.G. 3.3. (Research on Education and Applications of Information Technology).
